ABOUT DANA
  • Dana S. Whitney is a licensed clinical social worker, coach, consultant and psychotherapist easily accessible from Dallas, Richardson, Garland, Carrollton, Plano, Frisco, and Denton.
  • She received her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1990.
  • She completed a two-year clinical internship at the Pastoral Counseling and Education Center in Dallas.
  • She has been a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy since 1996.
  • Prior to her career as a psychotherapist, she was a librarian in the cities of Dallas, Texas; White Plains and Shrub Oak, New York; and Pasadena, California. Her MSLIS was issued by the University of Southern California, her Bachelor of Arts in Northern Renaissance Studies was granted by Scripps College, Claremont, California. She believes wide-ranging curiosity is one of the shortest paths to happiness and life satisfaction.
  • She promotes and supports the dignity and value of every person.
  • While every course of coaching or therapy is tailored to the individual, she draws upon her in-depth knowledge of family systems theory, human development, cognitive therapy interventions, finely tuned communication methods, NLP and creative expression, particularly journal keeping.
  • Ms. Whitney sees families, couples and individuals aged 12 and older. Each client defines his or her own preferred results and is then supported and held accountable for attaining those results.
  • She teaches classes in Journaling, Telling Your Story and The Artist’s Way at her Campbell Road Office and at SMU-in-Legacy.
  • Ms. Whitney is licensed by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiner as a Licensed Master Social Worker; Advanced Clinical Practitioner.
  • She is also licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists.
  • Ms. Whitney has lived in Texas since 1978, and successfully raised two young adults. She enjoys anything to do with creative expression. This has included playing the piano and flute, “throwing” pots, calligraphy, watercolor and oil painting, photography and her current passion, knitting. She is also a personal memoire and several children’s stories.
  • One way or another, her top priority is encouraging others to discover the fulfilling joy of their own creativity.
